CuriosityStream Announces the latest installment in its “The History Of…” Anthology with “The History of Home”

(Silver Spring, Md.) —CuriosityStream, the award-winning streaming and on-demand destination from the founder of Discovery Channel, announced today the start of production on the second installment of its original “The History Of… “ anthology series, with the filmmakers this time taking on the epic tale of Home.

Premiering in early 2020, the multipart event will take audiences on an entertaining journey around the world to explore the fascinating past, present and future of what makes our houses… homes. The film will give audiences insider access to some of the world’s most iconic locations — from caves to castles, from presidential homes to the homes of tomorrow.

“Since the nuclear family became the norm, it’s been easy to wrap our heads around the common saying ‘home is where the heart is,’” said Steve Burns, Chief Content Officer for CuriosityStream. “With ‘The History of Home,’ CuriosityStream takes viewers on a fascinating and fun journey through time to explore how our homes, and our relationships with them, have evolved along with humankind.”

From the treetop nests of our 2 million-year-old ancestors to dank fire-lit caves, and from luxurious castles all the way to 3-D printed houses on Mars; the multi-part series unpacks the history of humanity’s diverse ways of living to understand how our dwellings have evolved with us.

“’The History of Home’ brings viewers big cinematic visuals, famous locations, and in-depth profiles on world-renowned architects, designers, craftsmen and historians who share extraordinary insights on a topic that many take for granted in today’s world,” said Alex Sherratt, Executive Producer and Co-Owner of Roller Coaster Road Productions, the series’ production company.

Roller Coaster Road Productions, through each part of the series, takes viewers through every “story” of the house, from the hallways to the kitchen and upstairs to the bedroom and bathroom; pulling back the curtain on the histories and mysteries behind every room of our extraordinary homes.
