SILVER SPRING, Md., Feb. 12, 2018 — CuriosityStream, home to award-winning original documentary features and series exploring science, space, technology, history, nature, health and more, has signed a comprehensive deal with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC). The announcement comes as NCTC members convene at the annual Winter Educational Conference, February 12-13 in San Antonio, TX.
The new agreement allows NCTC member operators, who serve nearly 9 million basic cable subscribers, to deliver to their customers unlimited access to more than 1,500 documentaries, all without commercial interruptions, through the operator’s Video on Demand (VOD) service, and through a streaming app on various consumer electronic device platforms, with plans of including the streaming app on certain operator set-top box platforms later this year.
“CuriosityStream is proud to partner with NCTC to give its members and their enormous customer base easy access to the world’s greatest collection of non-fiction programming that empowers viewers to satisfy their curiosity about their favorite subjects,” said Clint Stinchcomb, Chief Distribution Officer for CuriosityStream.
CuriosityStream’s immersive experiences feature world-renowned experts, stunning visuals and unrivaled storytelling. CuriosityStream fills a void in a crowded media landscape for viewers searching for a trusted source of engaging shows, whether you want to explore Mars, travel back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, or discover the secrets behind the science of nutrition.
John Childress, VP, Product Strategy and Management for NCTC, noted, “There is a lot of high-quality content out there that consumers may not know about, and this partnership enables our member operators the ability to surface some of that content in convenient ways, enhancing their customers’ overall experience.”
CuriosityStream offers a 7-day free trial, with both monthly and annual subscription plans that members can offer to their consumers.
